Outreach systems
Your research deserves better than a PDF left on a server.
We build the site, the document base, the API and —when needed— the instrument that captures the data. For research groups, public bodies, environmental agencies and organisations that have results and nowhere to publish them.
Let’s talk about your projectWhat we build
Research microsites
A site of its own for a project, a group or a collection: readable results, credited authors, downloadable material and a stable address that can be cited.
Open data publishing
Datasets in open formats and a public API to query them, instead of a file posted somewhere that nobody can reuse.
Document management
Case files, versions and traceability for large bodies of documents, where the document is the evidence. That is OrpycaMCP’s work.
Instrumentation and field capture
When the data does not exist yet: sensors, autonomous stations and field forms. We design the instrument and publish its documentation.
Web accessibility
Sites built to be usable with a screen reader and a keyboard, and to hold up in an accessibility review — not to be fixed after one.
Editing the published content
Copy-editing, translation and layout of the material being published. It is the editorial part of the work, and it is not optional.
The framework it fits into
Outreach is not just good practice: in Colombia there are obligations and product categories with names of their own. Knowing them changes how the site is built and how the data is delivered.
Social appropriation of knowledge
Minciencias’ Modelo de Medición de Grupos e Investigadores recognises products of social appropriation of knowledge as a category in their own right. A well-built, well-documented outreach product is a result of the project, not a communications expense.
Open science
The Política Nacional de Ciencia Abierta 2022-2031 organises the field into open knowledge, social appropriation and open communication, held up by infrastructure. Publishing openly and interoperably stops being a preference and becomes policy.
Transparency and open data
Ley 1712 de 2014 requires the bodies it covers to publish information as open data, and MinTIC’s Resolución 1519 de 2020 spells this out in its annexes on web accessibility (Annex 1) and open data (Annex 4). These are verifiable requirements, not recommendations.
Every call for proposals and every contract sets its own requirements and deadlines. We do not advise on the application and we do not guarantee evaluation outcomes: we build the outreach product and deliver it documented, open and verifiable.
No vendor lock-in
A publication funded with public money cannot die when the contract ends. What we build is delivered under a free licence and with documentation whenever the project allows, so the institution can audit it, migrate it or maintain it without us. If you would rather we kept it online, we do that too: that is the upkeep arrangement.
