About us
Excribe is a publishing house. What changes from one project to the next is the medium: a book before, today also a site, an API or a sensor. The craft is the same — taking scattered knowledge and putting it into circulation in a form that can be consulted and cited.
What drives us
That what is researched, written and recorded should not stay unpublished. A manuscript with no editor, a case file nobody sorted, a dataset only its producer ever looks at: all three are missing the same thing, and that is our work.
It is in the articles of incorporation
This is not a recent addition. The registered purpose filed with the Chamber of Commerce runs from printed and electronic editing and publishing to «document management, from software design and development», and web dissemination is named there from the day the company was formed.
No vendor lock-in
We are a company where whoever commissions the work talks directly to whoever builds it. And so that nothing depends on us, we publish under a free licence and with documentation whenever the project allows: what we build can be audited, migrated and maintained without us.
